References

This shows how the golden section can work not just for the body copy, but also for outside information. If you want something to be read in a different order, or be missed out all together carful placement can achieve that.

Here on the first set of spreads the references are indented by a whole column width from the left. This is so the eye does not keep reading down the side of the page onto them. They are recognisable as a separate element without having to look at them. But they are easily referenced to when needed, as they follow the golden section down to the bottom right corner.


Here you can see on the verso page that the references are shoved out of the way to the left, out of the path of the eye as it moves from the first page to the second. Almost a complete reversal of the recto. But again still follows the GS grid so the eye will jump to that stop naturally.
