Logo Colour Finalisation

I always with colour picking, the only way that seems to work is by layout out a range of colours and shades which are fairly similar and then simply picking the one that impacts just the right amount to suggest the intended tone of the company.

My initial starting point colour is one of the strong choices, also the very last has a nice shade to it. It can be applicable to the range in block colour as well as type without being overbearing.

Letterpress Logo Tweaks & Colour

Using the letterpress scans I have finalised the arrangement of the type as well as beginning the final colour solutions.

I was going picking colours around the light oranges and deeper faded reds. However on my last variation I tried dark green. It seems to have a traditional edge to it which is in keeping with the tone of the project. It will also not be too overbearing when used across a range or products and prints.

Letterpress Logos

I thought it would be nice to get some good old fashioned processes involved with this brief.
It is fitting to potentially use the letterpress to design the logo as the driving force behind the re-brand of Web Design Ledger is their typography exhibition that this is designed for.

The exhibition aims to stay true to letter forms and the tone is one with an appreciation of type, therefore it is suitable that a traditional print method is used to create their brand identity.

The Product & Range

The logo can be applied to:

  • Posters
  • Banners
  • Website
  • Letterhead
  • Business cards
Most medium to high end exhibitions will have some sort of shop or point of sale for paraphernalia on the subject of their exhibition.

  • Pens
  • Pencils
  • Rubbers
  • Rulers
  • Sharpeners
  • Pencil cases
This idea for Web Design Ledger stationary being sold at the exhibition is a chance to increase promotion while making sales.

The different designs for the exhibition could also be the designs to go on the stationary.

The exhibition itself could be structured in a few ways in terms of a monthly change around.

  • Serif
  • Sans serif
  • Weight
  • Age
My thought at the moment is that it would be one typeface a month, covering all variations. Or
the exhibition might be just 6 months long and have a half month change around. Allowing for 12 fonts in 6 months, exhibited in order of age.

Progress Tutorial

Had a good talk with Fred today, got me back on track again. It was nice to hear him say, get developing some designs, as I was hesitant to move on from researching. An easy trap to fall into after back to back research driven projects. However I was fully up for it and immediately wrote out my action plan for the next few days.

Progress today was good.
