Flatland Letterpress Development
Both Vickie and myself wanted to use a classical printing method for this brief. Letterpress and mono printing were our intended design directions. It would also lend itself to the concept that the chapbook are limited edition publication, aimed at a specific fan base audience.
This is a mocked up range of some letterpress prints. They were an exercise in hierarchy initially, working with some chapter titles. I quite like the look of them. If there was time we would have mocked up more titles in a range of colours and worked it in with the copy. However as this was a 2 week brief we did not have time, especially when we lost our key printing days to the snow.
Yes the snow came on the wrong day. We were booked in for screen printing and were due a whole day printing. This called for a drastic change of design direction as we had lost so much time. We went digital, but designed with screen print in mind.
